farm life.

where am i? why i'm in red hook, new york!

so far this break has been one of my best, minus to waking up at 8am every morning to a home restoration guy banging on my window (mind you i'm on the third floor and when you are on a third floor its especially strange to wake up to someone at the window). but i suppose i'm one of them now anyways. i'm almost on a real person sleeping schedule which would be go to bed at midnight and be up at 8 (though i've probably more than likely been getting out of bed at 9, but i COULD have been up at 8!)

pretty much hugh's dad's house rules, i've been working pretty much all day when we're not playing baseball or basketball. landscaping, chainsawing, and my favorite, taking all the ceilings out of one of the three cabins on the property to make a loft and studio space for hugh and willy. this includes taking a hammer to the ceiling and then duck and covering while literally dozens of wasp and bee nests fall out of the attic. luckilly they're all dead or sleeping somewhere else right now cause i'd be incredibly dead by now if they were still hanging out. i've also found out that lady bugs hangout in secret mounds by the hundreds behind boards and in ceilings. CRAZY!

thus far we also went to the whitney biennial which i'd like to say to the whitney "better luck next year." it was pretty weak sauced. to the point that i don't really remember much of what i saw there. but nyc was pretty sick, me, hugh, willy and caitlin hungout for a couple nights at benny's and i stayed up for 48hours straight and then painted the american apparel's red with my five fingers. very sucessful, lots of good people.

besides that i've just been enjoying the life of a laborer, its incredible, i mean i used to do this type of shit when i was growing up all summer, but i was always pissed that my dad was making me do it. now i'm just kinda doing it cause i want to and its narly, taking breaks when i want, drinking beer and singing neil young, its great. also alot of the time i'll be working outside and look up and see giant narly birds circling me. i've seen a couple of smaller hawks but most of the time they're huge turkey vultures looking for some dead shit. obviously i've been doing alot of browsing of field guides: a2zbirds, enature

i don't want to go home.

My grandma had a cottage in PA that would be routinely infested with ladybugs. Ladybugs are magical until they come in scores because, frankly, the sound of them crushing is nauseating, and when they come in scores it is nearly impossible to preserve them all.

American Apparel is made to be pilfered from. Kelly green is my new number, call me any time.
